    Security lapses in Delhi Airport!!!

Well... This is no news. This is something I encountered personally and wanted to share. I'm not giving any dates or flight information so to save my ass.

This is based on my experiences at the Delhi Airport. First, I arrived at Delhi from London in a late night flight. In India when you arrive from international travel, you need to declare your custom allowances and possession of other banned substances and based on your declaration, you should either enter Green channel or the Red Channel. I declared that I have some materials that I did not know should be there in my baggage (Meat Products... for my doggie). Normally, they'd ask me to show and I was confident that I could at least save some if not everything. I entered the Red Channel (being a responsible citizen) and to my surprise, the security personnel never bothered to look by declarations and asked me to proceed. Good, I thought, and proceeded. (I saved 5000 Rupees worth products here). I could very well have some illegal stuff here.

The story does not end here. Now comes the dangerous part. Previously, I was an arriving passenger and the time of boarding they might have checked for the illegal substances, so still fine.

Now, I had to take my connecting flight early in the next day. I traveled from the International terminal to the domestic terminal and to my surprise the security for the check-in baggage was open and the security guys asked to me to complete the formalities to avoid the last minute rush. Nice idea, I thought and proceeded with the check. They scanned my check-in baggage and pasted the "Security Checked" sticker on my bag (the lock). Once this is done, I took a seat right next to the security guys and started listening to music. After sometime, I realized that I was carrying the jacket unnecessarily and should also go into check-in baggage. Now comes the scary part. I took the seal they pasted and opened the lock, kept my stuff and fumbled with the lock for quite sometime and successfully locked it and pasted the security check seal again. This process took almost 5 minutes. Remember, I was next to the security guys and nobody observed me... leave about questioning. I was confident that I could convince them to do a recheck on my baggage.

Now, I'm all set to fly and there will be no further security checks for the check-in baggage. What would it be if it had been some drugs or weapon instead of my jacket?

All I can say is God save India.

    Why I liked Tampa Airport

Well... I'm writing this from O'Hare airport (Chicago) and could not publish it because of one reason and this is the prime reason why I liked Tampa Int'l more than O'Hare. Tampa airport provides a free Wi-Fi for all the passengers and when I tried to connect to one of the Wi-Fi networks at Chicago I got this message.

Come on guys... you could do much better than this.

One more reason I liked Tampa airport is you get so much of variety in veggie stuff even after security check and I expected the same if not more from O'Hare and it turned out to be a disappointment to the core. There is only one item and I could hardly see any vegetables (hardly 6 pieces... a cauliflower piece, two lettuce leaves, one small piece of carrot and some dipping) and they are charging a freakin' $6.99 for that.

Not sure how I'll survive for the next 5 hours :(

If you see this post... apparently I'm still alive.
